How to Use Rich Media in WhatsApp Chatbot

Rich Media in Wabo.ai allows you to send images, videos, documents, interactive buttons, lists, catalogs, URLs, delays, location sharing, and WhatsApp flows within a WhatsApp chatbot. This helps you build engaging, guided, and conversion-focused conversations.

Accessing the Chatbot Flow Builder

  1. Log in to Wabo.ai.

  2. Navigate to the Chatbot / Bot Builder module.

  3. Open the chatbot you want to edit.

  4. Click on the Hello flow (or any existing flow).

  5. Click the β€œ+” (Add Node) icon to start adding nodes.

Message Node (Text Formatting & Welcome Message)

  • Use the Message node to send plain text or a welcome message.

  • You can format text using:

    • Bold, Italic, Underline

    • Bulleted and Numbered lists

    • Emojis

  • You can also insert Contact Properties or API variables from the toolbar.

  • Click Save to store the message.

Interactive Message (Buttons – Max 3)

Use this node when you want users to choose an action using buttons.

  • Add the Interactive Message node.

  • Enter the Body text (required).

  • Click Add Button and set the Button Title.

  • Choose the Button Action:

    • Connect Flow (redirect to another node)

    • Live Agent (handover to human)

    • Opt-In / Opt-Out (WhatsApp consent control)

  • Repeat to add up to 3 buttons.

  • Click outside the node to save changes.

Interactive Message List (List – Max 10 Buttons)

Use this when you need multiple selectable options.

  • Add the Interactive Message List node.

  • Choose Header type (Text or None).

  • Enter the Body (required).

  • Add a Button List Title.

  • Create Sections and add list items (up to 10).

  • For each list item, choose an action:

    • Connect Flow

    • Talk to Agent

    • Open URL

    • Opt-In / Opt-Out

  • Save the node.

WhatsApp Templates

  • Add the WhatsApp Template node.

  • Select any Meta-approved template.

  • Preview the content.

  • Click Use Template to add it to the flow.

WhatsApp Flow (Structured Data Collection)

WhatsApp Flows help collect data like name, email, or selections.

  • Add the WhatsApp Flow node.

  • Select the required flow.

  • Configure:

    • Header (Text / Image / Video / Document / None)

    • Body message

    • Footer (optional)

    • Button title

  • Save the node.

WhatsApp Catalogue (Products)

  • Add the WhatsApp Catalogue node.

  • Choose Single Product or Multiple Products.

  • Select products from the catalogue.

  • Edit header and body if needed.

  • Confirm product selection and save.

Interactive URL

  • Add the Interactive URL node.

  • Configure:

    • Header and Body

    • Button Title

    • Destination URL

  • When clicked, users are redirected to the provided link.

  • Save the node.

Delay Node

  • Add the Delay node.

  • Set delay duration between 5 to 10 seconds.

  • This controls when the next message is sent.

  • Save by clicking outside the node.

Share Location Node

  • Add the Share Location node.

  • Choose:

    • Share Your Location (manual pin or search)

    • Use Current Location

  • Save the location and click outside to confirm.

Media Node (Image, Video, Document)

Use this to send rich media content.

  • Add the Media node.

  • Choose media type: Image, Video, or Document.

  • Upload using:

    • URL

    • Local file upload

  • Optionally add a text message with the media.

  • Save the node.

Key Notes

  • Interactive Message β†’ max 3 buttons

  • Interactive Message List β†’ max 10 options

  • Delay node β†’ 5–10 seconds only

  • All changes are saved when you click outside the node

  • Use Preview and Publish to make the bot live
