How to Deprecate a WhatsApp Flow

Deprecating a WhatsApp Flow allows you to permanently retire a published flow so it can no longer be used or sent to users. This is useful when a flow is outdated, incorrect, or replaced by a newer version.

⚠️ Important: Once a WhatsApp Flow is deprecated, it cannot be published or used again. This action is irreversible.

Why Deprecate a WhatsApp Flow?

• To permanently stop using an outdated or incorrect flow

• To replace an old flow with a newer or improved version

• To ensure users do not interact with deprecated business journeys

• To comply with Meta’s WhatsApp Flow lifecycle rules

Steps to Deprecate a WhatsApp Flow

1. From the left sidebar, navigate to WhatsApp Flow.

2. Locate the flow you want to deprecate from the list.

3. Click the three-dot (⋮) icon under the Action column.

4. Select Deprecate.

5. A confirmation popup appears stating that this action cannot be undone.

6. Click Discard if you do not wish to proceed.

7. Click Deprecate to confirm.

8. The flow status changes to Deprecated.

9. Done 🚀

What Happens After Deprecation?

• The flow cannot be published again

• The flow cannot be sent to new users

• Existing users may still see past interactions, but no new journeys can start

• The action cannot be reversed

• Clone the deprecated flow before deprecating if you need a reusable version

• Create and publish a new flow to replace the deprecated one
